Rishabh Pant has vowed to “give 200%” to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after being officially unveiled as the franchise’s captain for IPL 2025.

GT captain in IPL 2025: The 2022 seasonal winners Gujarat Titans have retained Shubhman Gill as their captain ahead of the mega auction. Shubman Gill has been named as the captain of Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025 while Rashid Khan named as the vice-captain.
After Hardik Pandya moved to MI ahead of the IPL 2024 season, Shubman Gill has been named as the captain of the franchise. Ahead of IPL 2022 auction, Gill was drafted by the newly formed franchise for INR 8 crore.
Shubman Gill scored 483 runs in the 2022 season where the side defeated Rajasthan Royals in the finals to win the title. He had a tremendous IPL season in 2023, scoring 890 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 157.80.
Punjab Kings have named Shreyas Iyer as captain for the IPL 2025 season. In an unparalleled move, the announcement was made by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on the reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss’ on Sunday. Iyer, Shashank Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal were present on the sets of the show with Salman to make it more exciting for the fans. The 30-year-old expressed gratitude to the Punjab Kings management and vowed to repay the faith. “I am honoured that the team has reposed its faith in me. I am looking forward to working again with Coach Ponting. The team looks strong, with a great mix of potential and proven performers. I hope to repay the faith shown by the management to deliver our maiden title,” Iyer said

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced that Ajinkya Rahane will lead the franchise in IPL 2025. He’ll be the eighth captain of the franchise, replacing Shreyas Iyer, who was released after leading the team to its third title last year. All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer will be Rahane’s deputy.
The three-time champions signed Rahane for his base price of Rs. 1.5 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. This is the Mumbaikar’s second stint in a KKR shirt after he spent one year in Kolkata in 2022. Venkatesh, who was signed for 23.75 crore (the third-highest-paid player) will see a second season as a vice-captain after a brief stint as Shreyas’s deputy in the first half of the last season
Axar Patel has been appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 2025 IPL season. The 31-year-old all-rounder has been a key player for DC since joining the team in 2019. He was retained by the franchise for a massive ₹16.50 crore before the mega auction last November. Though Axar doesn’t have much captaincy experience in the IPL, he was named India’s T20I vice-captain earlier this year in January, showing trust in his leadership abilities.
Axar has captained home team Gujarat in 23 matches in different formats, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2024–25 season. He also captained DC in one match last season when Rishabh Pant was suspended for a slow over-rate
Rajat Patidar has been appointed captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2025, which begins around March 21. The development was contrary to wide speculation that Virat Kohli would lead RCB again after they did not retain Faf Du Plessis their captain from 2022 to 2024, before the mega auction
RCB made the announcement in Bengaluru on Thursday at an event attended by team director, head coach and Patidar. He is the eighth captain for RCB and has played three seasons for the franchise since joining them in 2021 and has grown into one of their key batters, scoring 799 runs in 28 matches at a strike rate of 158.85
